It is amazing how Tarot cards meditation can be such a powerful tool on the way of self-discovery and personal growth. Actually, Tarot can be used not only for divination but also as some kind of spiritual map, which may allow you to access deeper intuition and subconsciousness. Combining meditation with Tarot opens a direct line to your inner world and the higher energies of the universe.

In the following article, I am going to describe a 7-step process to meditate with Tarot cards. Be prepared to open the door to inner truths for a much deeper understanding of each card.

Step 1: Choose a Tarot Card

First, pick the right Tarot card. Using meditation for better insight into what each and every individual card is trying to say, you may randomly pick one or choose one you feel you are being drawn to particularly. You can have a specific question or theme, like love, and use cards such as the Two of Cups or The Lovers. If spiritual issues are needed, then the Hermit should provide a good guide.

Tip: Make an entry in your journal about the card you have selected; in such a way, afterwards you are able to reflect upon your thoughts and experiences.

Step 2: Soothing Ambiance

For meditations with Tarot, it is best that you choose a space where you will not be disturbed for at least 20 minutes. Switch off your phone and dim the light, if possible. You may also want to play soothing music or make use of aromatherapy. Smells and music can help make the transition into a meditative state easier.

Sit up and place the card in front of you. This will make you focus completely on meditation without falling asleep because of over-relaxation.

Step 3: Be Aware of Your Breathing

Now, shift your attention to your breathing. Inhale through your nose and notice the flow of air through your nostrils. With each exhalation, release a little deeper.

If thoughts arise, simply acknowledge them and do not follow them. Imagine those thoughts dissolving in the air like the clouds. Then, go back to your breath.

Step 4: Relax Deeper

As your breathing goes deep and relaxed, take that relaxation a step further by focusing on the entire body. Starting to feel yourself fill with energy as oxygen hinders your breathing, allow each breath to let go of any more stored tension. Relax your head, neck, and shoulders, working down the rest of your body until you are completely calm.

This will prepare you to connect with your Tarot card on a deeper level.

Step 5: Connect with Your Tarot Card

Now it’s time to make a deep connection with the card that you have picked up. Look at the card and take five deep breaths, focusing all your attention on it.

Imagine the card growing until the figures and symbols in it are life-sized. Now step into the card. Look around. How does it feel right there? Who else might be in the card with you? Notice colors, textures, smells, and sounds.

Now, with eyes closed, imagine turning into one of the characters in the card. How does it feel to become this archetype? What does this figure want to tell you? This can be one of the most powerful techniques in assisting you to connect deeper with the symbolism of the card.

Step 6: Come Alive

Now come back to the physical body. Allow energy to flow back into one’s body. Take a few deep breaths and open your eyes. Come into the present and feel refreshed and energized.

Step 7: Record Your Insights

Take notes immediately following your meditation, including everything you saw, heard, or felt. It will help you process the experience and also allow you to reflect on these notes when you next meditate with the same card.

Why Meditate with Tarot Cards?

The symbols on Tarot cards often hold deep meanings in spirituality and psychology. While meditating, you open intuitive gates that might otherwise remain hidden. You will become more self-conscience through Tarot meditation and clarify life situations presently on your mind.

Besides, developing deeper connections with the cards created by Tarot meditation will make your Tarot readings more accurate and intuitive.

Meditating with the Tarot is a way to explore one’s inner world in a magical and powerful way. Just follow these simple 7 steps to try it yourself and connect you to your inner wisdom. Get going now, and enjoy the new insights that your intuition will bring.
